Bungie is bringing one of the best features from the Into the Light update back to Destiny 2.Â
Attunement is coming back, allowing players to focus on one weapon from the Brave arsenal, making it drop more frequently. However, this time, there are a few differences. Namely, Attunement will happen at a different location, and believe it or not, the effects will be even better than before.
Attunement was introduced for the Into the Light update and was retired when The Final Shape launched. The feature allowed players to interact with a weapon statue in the now-defunct Hall of Champions to make that weapon more likely to drop during an Onslaught run or while opening chests in the Hall. Attunement allowed players to prioritize one weapon at a time, ensuring they got plenty of drops and, thus, plenty of rolls. Now, Bungie has announced Attunement is coming back, but it will work a bit differently from before.
When is Attunement coming back and how will it change?
Bungie announced the return of weapon Attunement in the July 25 This Week in Destiny communication, alongside some changes to Exotic Class item drops. The studio noted that the feature would become available again in Update 8.0.5, with Update 8.0.0.8 dropping this past Tuesday, July 22. This likely puts the reappearance of Attunement in line with other August-bound changes, though time will only tell.
While Attunement will essentially work the same as it had, players aren’t able to access the Hall of Champions anymore. As such, Commander Zavala will become the new destination for Attunement. The offerings are still the same, meaning that only Brave weapons can be Attuned, but the Attunement benefit has been increased. Now, Attunement will provide a 60% increase to a chosen weapon’s drop rate while playing Onslaught. Previously, Attunement only offered a 50% drop rate increase.
Though Attunement is coming back, there’s no telling for how long that will remain. Perhaps Bungie is testing out the feature in the current state of the game before considering expanding it to other weapon pools, like for Nightfall or Trials of Osiris. Of course, it’s impossible to know what plans Bungie has in store for Attunement, but it’ll soon make its return for anyone who missed out on some desired Brave weapon rolls. As always, Bungie has noted that it will monitor the reappearance of Attunement and encourages players to let it know how they like the system.
