Just a few days ago, Nintendo unveiled The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes to the world. It’s a three-player co-op game that will actually feature online support, but just like Splatoon, Nintendo is forgoing the feature for the final release.

Speaking to the Verge, director Hiromasa Shikata stated that, “With voice chat, what we would see is a highlight in the difference of experience levels between the players. Higher players would tell lower players what to do, and lower players would wonder why they’re being told what to do.” He goes on to note that emoticons have “created a new form of communication,” and implies that it will be enough to get by.

I totally get it. I mean, based on Tri Force Heroes‘ presentation, it doesn’t exactly look like a hardcore game that screams voice chat. But still, it’s amusing to see Nintendo give so many different reasons for avoiding it.
