A few weeks ago, Microsoft talking head Aaron Greenberg promised we’d be seeing Alan Wake “in the first half of 2010.”
Those of you who haven’t given up Alan Wake — what with it’s umpteen delays and all — will be excited to hear that Microsoft has confirmed the release dates for North America and Europe: May 18 and 21, respectively. They also confirmed a limited edition of the game, although retailers like Walmart and Best Buy took the wind out of Microsoft’s sails by posting it this morning. Whoops.
You’ll also be pleased to hear that pre-ordering Alan Wake gives you access to the Bright Falls Pack, which includes some the least effective bonuses I’ve ever head of: some avatar trinkets, a theme, and a “making of” video. That sounds mighty lame to me, but different strokes, I guess. The only thing I’m fuzzy on is whether or not the pre-order bonus is the same as the “game Add-on token redeemable on Xbox LIVE for the first Alan Wake add-on content pack” that comes with the limited edition.
Last but not least, developer Remedy Games has released a shiny new trailer. It’s almost like they anticipated the fact it’s hard to get excited about release dates and avatar gear and wanted to give me something shiny to look at.
