Wuthering Waves hits 30 million download milestone within three weeks of launch

No signs of slowing down.

Wuthering Waves, the free-to-play gacha game by Kuro Games, has only been available for the masses to play for under three weeks. However, since its release on May 17, 2024, the RPG has already hit a huge milestone — 30 million downloads.

This number does include pre-registrations and doesn’t reflect the number of active players per day. However, it’s a commendable occasion for the studio either way you slice it. It’s no small feat, considering the issues faced by Wuthering Waves since it was released.

There have been a string of issues plaguing the game, such as event schedule readjustments, translation errors, problems with the Echo system, and balancing issues when recycling certain Echoes. All of these issues have resulted in compensation rewards for all players, including huge amounts of Shell Credits and Astrite to make up for inconveniences faced.

One such compensation reward was a huge sum of 1,000,000 Shell Credits available to certain players on June 10, which I have to admit felt like a pretty epic birthday present for yours truly.

Despite all of these issues, it’s clear that players are still coming back for more Wuthering Waves, with new players adding to the number of pre-registrations that existed prior to the release of the game.

It’s easy to see why, with regular updates and hotfixes, plus a seemingly endless stream of events and the addictive nature of gacha gaming, Wuthering Waves is clearly hitting all the right notes with players, even if things haven’t gone entirely smoothly.

With a new update arriving on June 28 (or June 27, depending on where you’re located), including two new Resonators and a host of other new features, Wuthering Waves is likely to keep attracting players both new and returning.
