Wargaming.net’s World of Warplanes is currently in closed beta at the moment, with around 700,000 registered users shredding it up in the air combat game. Like World of Tanks, the developers are focusing on keeping the same addictive and easy to jump in experience intact for Warplanes.

Controls will be along the lines of an arcade style system, but there’s a heavy emphasis on realistic features too. For instance, your plane won’t be as fast if it’s equipped with a bunch of bombs, but it will become more nimble as you lighten the load when dropping bombs.

And like Tanks, there’s a dedicated team meticulously researching planes from the 1920s to the 1950s to bring the most realistic looking planes for players. They’re even going to have concept planes that were planned but never produced in real life due to practicality or costs. You can expect lots of planes to choose from too.

You can sign up for the closed beta going on right now to see what the next big free-to-play game from Wargaming is all about.
