AÂ Tekken 8Â story mode would be a fantastic way to start the post-Heihachi era of the series. The last game also teased a rivalry between Kazuya and his son Jin. It will be interesting to see how the narrative fares without the iconic Heihachi at the forefront. Here’s what we know about a Tekken 8Â story mode.
Can you play a Tekken 8 story mode?
Game publisher Bandai Namco has confirmed there will be a Tekken 8Â story mode included at release.Â
Fists will be raging on your screen in a story mode that’s teased to bigger than the last entry’s. Tekken 8 marketing producer Naoya Yasuda said to Famitsu (via Noisy Pixel) that its story mode will be bigger than Tekken 7. “As a matter of fact, when I was informed of how much of the budget we had used for the Story Mode, I went, ‘O…Oh, my. This is quite the price,'” he said to Famitsu.
With the game’s 32-character roster, hopefully everyone has a chance to shine during the story mode. “I had a hard time connecting them in my head, but fighting games are all about the charm of the characters, so we made sure to bring out the most out of each of them,” said Tekken 8‘s game director Kohei Ikeda in the same Famitsu interview.
Are there any other modes in the game?
Recently at Gamescom, Bandai Namco gave us a more in-depth look at Tekken 8. One of the modes that the developers showcased is Arcade Quest.
You can make your own adorable custom character and have them stroll around a virtual arcade. It sounds similar to Arc System Works’ lobby system, but it is going to be single-player only.
I don’t know about you but I’m still waiting for a return of the beach volleyball mode that was featured in Tekken 3. Bring it back, Bandai Namco!
Nevertheless, Tekken 8 releases for PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC on January 26.
