Will Cities: Skylines 2 be on Mac?

Are there plans for an OS X version?

The short answer here is that it may become available for Mac OS X in the future, but right now, there have been no stated plans.

Cities: Skylines 2 was released on Windows. The only other platforms that are confirmed right now are Microsoft Xbox Series X|S and PS5. Furthermore, the console versions will not arrive until next year. It’s likely that, if there’s going to be a Mac version, it won’t arrive until after the console launch.

More optimistically, however, is that the original Cities: Skylines had a Mac version, which shows that the publisher is at least open to the idea of porting it to OS X. Pessimistically, on the other hand, is the fact that the Mac version of the original launched alongside Linux and Windows. Beyond that, the vast majority of computer gamers use Windows, so it’s unlikely that Mac or Linux would be a priority.

This might come down to the heavy hardware load of Cities: Skylines 2. It’s not great, to put it lightly, and the developer will likely need time to tweak and optimize things before it can begin considering platforms with more rigid hardware. However, that’s speculation, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
