Wii Party U releasing later than expected

“Tabletop” multiplayer on the Gamepad

Wii Party U was planned to come out in the summer, but Iwata announced today at Nintendo’s E3 Direct that it will be pushed back until later this year, though no exact date was given. The game will feature 80 games, and even have a multiplayer mode that just uses the Gamepad.

Some Mario Party-esque gameplay was shown, and of course the game will have plenty of mini games that take full advantage of the Wii U Gamepad. I’m genuinely interested in this “tabletop” gameplay mode, even if the core game doesn’t excite me that much.
