Could it be… a trilogy pack!?

After years of waiting, the SNES underdog classic EarthBound is finally coming to the Wii U eShop in America and Europe. EarthBound is the second game in the Mother trilogy, though the other two have never officially made the journey out West. Perhaps if we’re lucky, Nintendo will present us with localized versions of the remaining installments as well.

Are we about to get lucky? A mysterious listing has appeared on Amazon UK for EarthBound on Wii U. You might be thinking, it’s probably something dumb like a download card for the game’s eventual digital release, but with a tentative price tag of £44.99, it looks more like a boxed retail release to me.

Waitaminute… that can’t be right! Nintendo wouldn’t charge so much for a single 20-year-old game, especially one that’s appearing digitally at a much lesser price. What if — and I’m just spitballing here — this is a collection that includes all three Mother games? If that’s true, the celebrations would be thunderous.

This is all speculation for now, and this listing could turn out to be an error. But do remember that the boxed version of New Super Luigi U was leaked in exactly the same manner. Make of that what you will.
