The Sword of Night and Flame is not just one of the best weapons in Elden Ring, it’s also one of the coolest, as it allows players to cast ultra-cool energy blasts. Best of all, it’s not even tough to get — if you know the way.
It’s located in Caria Manor, which is admittedly a scary place (the one with all the giant hands that pop out of nowhere to insta-murder you), but the good news is that you can get pretty much bypass all of them to get this weapon.
The first obstacle is an invisible wall that tries to fool players into not venturing towards Caria Manor. It’s situated right here:
And it’s this one, in case it’s not obvious when you see it blocked out or want to look at what I believe is a pretty gorgeous screenshot.
You’ll find a sight of grace and a useful Blacksmith as soon as you cross that wall, so consider taking a rest. From then on, the road is straightforward, but it’ll be filled with dangers as projectiles will be falling from the sky. Get on Torrent and make a run towards Caria Manor.
Once you cross the gate, you might get the idea to just go down the main path. Don’t. That’s how you get you get killed, though; the enemies here are all creepy hands.
Instead, take the left. stick as closely as possible to the inner wall, and just keep left until you find the entrance to a room.
Get in and go up the stairs to find a site of grace. Rest up just to create a neat little checkpoint, and then keep going forward. You’ll come across this sight, which means that the trickiest part is over. There are no hands on the first floor. In fact, the only enemies here are dumb ghosts that only spawn once you’re past them. Once again, you’ll have to turn left.
Then turn right, and keep going in front until you see this on your left.
Jump down to that house. Worry not. It might look like a tough jump to make, but that’s only because that’s the best angle I could find to show you want to jump to. Once on the rooftop of that platform, you’ll see yet another house below you.
Jump down, once again — to the rooftop and not directly into the hole, please — then descend the ladder. You’ll arrive at a room with a chest that contains the Sword of Night and Flame.
Sword of Night and Flame Build in Elden Ring
This is a great multi-faceted weapon, so it naturally comes with requirements all across the board.
Requirements: 12 STR, 12 DEX, 24 FTH, and 24 INT
As previously stated, this weapon is capable of dealing with your enemies both at close and long range, as it features not just one but two different projectile blasts — hence the “night” and “flame” aspects of the name. Though amazing, its special ability is costly when it comes to FP, so you’ll likely also benefit from raising your FP bar, which you can get via raising your Mind attribute and with talismans such as the Cerulean Amber one.
You can only upgrade it via somber smithing stones, and it’s not compatible with ashes of war.
Finally, the Sword of Night and Flame is pretty great for PVE, as it features a robust and relatively quick move set. When it comes to PVP, however, it’s been a bit nerfed, considering just how overwhelming it was when the game first came out. Don’t let that kill your hype for this weapon, though, as it’s still pretty solid and extremely fun to use.
Elden Ring Shadow Of The Erdtree will be out on June 21 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
