Gear From the Girls

The various communities in Hyrule each have unique cultures, clothing, and even weapons. The Gerudo weapons are ornate in addition to being quite powerful, as is the case with the Gerudo Scimitar and Gerudo Shield.

Where to Find the Gerudo Scimitar in Tears of the Kingdom

The Gerudo Scimitar isn’t too hard to find, especially if you start seeking it early on. The easiest way to score the Gerudo Scimitar is to simply deal with the Gerudo Regional Phenomenon. As part of the “Riju of Gerudo” questline, Link will help the ladies battle against Gibdos.

In preparation for the big battle against the invading Gibdos, Link will gain access to plenty of Gerudo weapons, including the coveted Gerudo Scimitar. The weapons can be found on a bench in Gerudo Town. The coordinates are: -3860, -2983, 0043.

Alternatively, Gerudo Scimitars can sometimes be found inside treasure chests dropped by Like Like in the Gerudo region. Moldugas also occasionally drop Gerudo Scimitars, though they are hard to beat, and there is no guarantee of scoring one.

Lastly, hit up the enemy camps in the Gerudo region, as some of them battle with Gerudo Scimitars. After the foes have been defeated, their weapons are yours to loot.

The in-game description for the Gerudo Scimater is “A decaying scimitar from the Gerudo region, it is designed for maximizing force. Attaching a material greatly enhances the material’s power but doesn’t add as much durability.” It has a base damage of 8, and its special property is Durability Up+.

Where to Find the Gerudo Shield in Tears of the Kingdom

Like the Gerudo Scimitar, the Gerudo Shield can be obtained while preparing for the battle against the Gibdos. Once again, enemy camps in the Gerudo region are also a good option, along with the Lizalfos found throughout the desert.

The Gerudo Shield can also be obtained from a treasure chest in the 12 Ancient Altar Ruins located in the Gerudo Desert. The coordinates are: -2618, -3746, 0010. To get to the ruins, jump in one of the twelve pools of quicksand. There is also a Shock Like which potentially holds another Gerudo weapon. While you’re underground, don’t forget to grab a Bubbul Gem from the Bubbul Frog.

Tears of the Kingdom describes the shield as: “The design of this metal shield has changed over time to match the Gerudo’s sword-and-shield fighting style. It’s favored by soldiers and travelers alike.” Its base protection is 28.

What to Do With the Gerudo Shield and Gerudo Scimitar

The Gerudo Scimitar and Gerudo Shield are great weapons that can and should be used during combat in TotK. They are also needed for a side quest which is unlocked after completing Riju’s questline.

Defeat the Molduga at the Toruna Ruins to save Isha. Following this, she can be found again in Gerudo Town. There, she promises to make Link the Gerudo Scimitar of the Seven and the Daybreaker. However, he needs to provide some materials, including a Gerudo Shield and Gerudo Scimitar.

Gerudo isn’t the only region with its own weapons. Head to the Zora Domain to get weapons that are substantially stronger when they’re wet, or visit the Depths beneath Hyrule to score some weapons that are still in a pristine state.
