Welcome to the land before time
Epic Games is back with another fresh season of content for players to check out in Fortnite. This time around, Chapter 4 Season 3 Wilds features the long-awaited return of the velociraptors from Chapter 2.
If you want a little raptor buddy of your own, Jurassic World-style, you’re in the right place.
Where to find a raptor in Fortnite Wilds Season 3
First and foremost, before you can even ride around with your raptor partner in crime in Fortnite Wilds, you need to find one of these creatures on the island. Thankfully, there is a fairly limited space where you can find raptors, but you aren’t always guaranteed to find one.
Raptors seem to only appear in the jungle crater that is near the middle of the island. It appeared as the most impressive map change this season, covering the middle of the map and all the way to the northern edge of the island. It includes three new points of interest, and you can find raptors all throughout the jungle crater. The only problem with this is that the jungle is absolutely massive, and raptors could literally spawn anywhere in this region.
What I suggest, though, is to head to landmarks that aren’t super popular, such as The Apparatus, which is a small location east of Rumble Ruins on the edge of the crater. Since fewer players visit these places, you’ll have better chances of finding a raptor someone else hasn’t tamed yet.
Alternatively, you can look for the new raptor eggs on the ground near nests. These are also fairly random, but if you stumble upon one, you can essentially get raptors for your whole squad.
How to tame raptors and ride them
Once you find a raptor or egg in the world, it is now time to tame them. Just like Chapter 2, you need to tame raptors before you can ride them and use them as squad members. Thankfully, Epic was gracious enough to streamline the process this time.
Before, you had to find some food to appease to the raptor and then sneak up to tame it. This time, you simply need to jump on its back to instantly tame it, similar to wolves. In the case of the eggs, you only need to break these apart—I know, it sounds mortifying—and a raptor will pop out, immediately claiming you as its parent.
You can then ride these raptors quickly throughout the island whenever you want by pressing the correct button for your platform—square on PlayStation—or have them fight enemies together with you as an extra party member in a way.
