When does GTA 6 come out?

Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two have confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will be released in 2025. That’s as specific as the companies are willing to be at this point.

Beyond that, we can’t pin down a specific release date with any certainty. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate.

In its most recent results for fiscal year 2023, Take-Two management said they expect to “enter our next phase of growth in Fiscal 2025” with “over $8 billion in Net Bookings.” That’s a massive jump from the roughly $5.5 billion in net bookings that the company expects to achieve in the next fiscal year, which ends in March 2024. As the biggest franchise in the world, the release of Grand Theft Auto VI could explain this massive projected increase.

If that assumption is correct, Take-Two could expect Grand Theft Auto VI to be released before the end of the publisher’s fiscal year in March 2025. In other words, the game may come at the earlier end of the 2025 window that has been confirmed.

Of course, this doesn’t account for internal delays. Even if the intended release date is early in 2025, video games can often have their release dates pushed back for a myriad of reasons. By only announcing “2025,” Rockstar and Take-Two have given themselves some wiggle room when it comes to the actual release date.

All of this is to say that it is possible that Grand Theft Auto VI could launch in the first quarter of 2025. This would make the wait after that trailer much more bearable. But as of now, Rockstar has only confirmed a general 2025 release window. Hopefully we’ll learn more about the game in 2024.
