Bring Home the Baiken
Good morning, friends, and welcome to Whatcha Been Playing. We’re already at the end of January, and I hope that your year has gotten off to as good a start as possible. Mine hasn’t. In fact, it’s been a horrendous week. I won’t lie to you about this stuff, y’see? Because you don’t lie to your friends. But there’s still time ahead for reparations, new paths, explored ideas, chased goals. That goes for all of us. You, me, all of us. So if you’re also struggling with 2022 so far, take heart. The race is long, and in the end, it’s only with yourself. Rest up this weekend, and find the small joys. The larger ones will come.
Roman Canceled
Good lordy, have I wrestled with Guilty Gear for many moons. It seems that as far back as Guilty Gear XX I’ve been trying to wrap my brain around the title. And while I love the game and have a rudimentary understanding of it, I struggle to truly snuggle up to its myriad mechanics when compared to the meat and potatoes of a Street Fighter or the dice roll of a Mortal Kombat. This is not a negative on the game. Guilty Gear is ace, but it just doesn’t like working with me. I can hold my own, but not reach the “next level”. Still, the journey continues, and with the overhauled Baiken, I’m ready to try once again.
Meanwhile, Juri be painting her toenails like “Yeah, yeah… you’ll be back ya fuckin’ dunce.”
Backlog fury approaches
February is bearing down upon us, and it’s FULL OF GAMES! So hurry up and complete your backlogs so that you can buy ALL THE GAMES. Of course not. Don’t let FOMO swing you otherwise. Like Madeline Swann, you have all the time in the world. The new games will still be there, ready when you are. So just play what you want. Oh, and while you’re at it, please jump into the comments below and tell us whatcha been playing. Who knows, you might inspire our dear community members to join the digital party.
Have a wonderful weekend, from all of us at Destructoid.
