What is the max level in Diablo 4?

Maximum power is required to conquer Hell

Recommended Videos

Similar to the other games in the franchise, Diablo 4 requires you to level up and increase your character’s power in order to fight the more dangerous forces of evil. In each game, reaching the maximum level is often necessary to unlock the full might of your character. As you progress you will unlock more challenging World Tiers that will require a higher level. With that in mind, you’re probably wondering what is the max level in Diablo 4?

What is the max level in Diablo 4? It’s complicated

When it comes to actual character level, the max level in Diablo 4 is 100.

However, it’s important to keep in mind that level isn’t the only way to advance character power. Once you reach level 50 you unlock the Paragon Board. The Paragon Board is a new system unique to Diablo 4 that expands the customization of your character. Each Paragon Board starts the player in the center of a specific class starting board and then progresses outwards based on what titles you want to pick up to improve your character in a variety of ways. Once you reach the outer edge of the board you will unlock a Gate Tile that allows you to attach a new Paragon Board and continue progressing.

While Diablo 3 had its own Paragon system, there are certain key differences. In Diablo 3 your points were applied directly to specific stat points. Although each Paragon point required more experience than the previous one to unlock, the points themselves were virtually infinite. With Diablo 4, your Paragon points are finite. Based on the user interface you will receive four Paragon points per level, meaning you should have 200 in total once you reach the max level in Diablo 4 which is 100.

Will the max level in Diablo 4 always be 100?

Blizzard themselves haven’t said if they plan to ever increase the max level in Diablo 4. We can look at previous Diablo titles, however, to get some sort of idea. With Diablo 3, the Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls expansion increased the max level from 60 to 70. The max level in Diablo Immortal has been 60 since release, but it has yet to receive an actual expansion as opposed to smaller updates. The expansion Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction did not increase the max level of the base game.

The post-launch roadmap for Diablo 4 revolves around quarterly Season updates. Each Season looks like it will introduce new Battle Passes, Legendary Items, balance changes, and even potentially new gameplay features. There has been no indication that there are any plans to increase the max level in a future update. If that changes, we will be sure to post the update here!

What level do you unlock the Paragon Board?

Though the actual maximum level in Diablo 4 is 100, once you reach level 50 you unlock the Paragon Board. This acts as a “soft” level cap of sorts as from 50-100, as you no longer receive skill points to build your character, but rather, Paragon Points. This means that at level 50 you will have all the skill points available that you get from leveling up, and can start to have a good idea of how a specific build might work for your class.

If you do some side quests and optional dungeons along the way, you should be close to level 50 when you finish the campaign. All in all, this could take you around 35 hours, depending of course how much optional content you do along the way. Reaching the max level cap in Diablo 4 however, could take you over 100 hours once you dive into the end-game.
