Warframe is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, smartphones, and Nintendo Switch, but it was only recently that cross-save was enabled by developer Digital Extremes. As a PlayStation player for years, I was incredibly worried about what happens when you enable the feature, but I’m pleased to report it’s smooth and seamless.

Cross-save is a feature in many online games that allows you to merge your accounts from each platform and unify your progression. This means that instead of having characters at different levels with various items unlocked on every platform, you have one character with one level and all your items under one profile. That profile can be accessed from every account, provided you enable cross-save, meaning no matter where you play, you’ll be adding progress on your main profile, not just playing the Switch version because it’s portable.

When a PlayStation player cross-saves in Warframe, they’re able to pick their PlayStation account as their primary account and merge that progress to all other platforms. If your PlayStation account has a high Mastery Rank, loads of Prime Warframes, and a lot of gear that you’ve fabricated, all that, your currencies, and more will be merged with the other accounts you link so that your progression is preserved whether you play on PC, Xbox, PS5, your phone, or Nintendo Switch.

To set up cross-save for Warframe on PlayStation, you need to first log into the official website using your PlayStation login details. Once you’ve done that, you can visit the cross-save page, but make sure you have the details of the other accounts you want to link first. I wanted to link a PC account so I could play on Steam Deck, so I set that new PC account up ahead of time.

After logging into your PC account, you’ll be taken back to the home page with that profile. This confused me because there’s no progress on that account. However, if you now visit the cross-save page, you can select which account you want to be your primary account and merge the progress from it to all others.

The website will check that you want to make the selected account, in this case, PlayStation, your primary account multiple times. You even need to get a code from your email to verify this because all progress from the secondary accounts will be lost.

After linking my accounts, I turned my PS5 off, then launched Warframe again. I can confirm that all your data is carried across, and you lose nothing on PlayStation by following these steps. throughout the whole process, I thought I was about to lose everything. But now, I have the same profile and can continue playing on it on both my PS5 and my Steam Deck.
