Smite 2 is coming and, being a free-to-play game, it’s going to be largely supported by players purchasing in-game content like skins, Battle Passes, and more with the in-game currency. These Gems are the common currency, but Hi-Rez Studios has announced the addition of Legacy Gems. Just what are they and how do they work?
How do Legacy Gems work in Smite 2?
Legacy Gems are a rewarded currency in Smite 2 for every Gem spent in the original Smite with a conversion ratio of 1:1. These Legacy Gems can be used to pay for 50% of “most” in-game purchases in the sequel to the godly brawler. This makes items like skins, Battle Passes, and events half-off until all Legacy Gems have been spent.
Additionally, if you purchase a Smite Founder’s Pack, you’ll receive double the Legacy Gems. This appears to function like the Ultimate God Pack of the original with it unlocking all present and future Smite 2 content. Hi-Rez Studios has promised more information about those at a later date.
It’s certainly a good way to reward longtime players who have invested in Smite over its 10-year lifespan. Since the only skins being ported over are from Year 11 and onward, with a few exceptions, it’s definitely a tough blow to those who have spent a lot of hard-earned cash on acquiring the pricey skins. As a Neith and Aphrodite player, I’m quite sad to lose those skins. Oh well, here’s hoping the new skins are just as great. The Legacy Gems will certainly help ease the pain.
