In many ways, Mortal Kombat 1 is a departure from the franchise’s past. It marks a soft reboot of the series, the second time that’s happened in the series’ history. In addition to a whole slew of new features including seamless transitions from the character select to the battle, Mortal Kombat 1 will make use of Kameo Fighters, which will remind players of the assist system in other side-scrolling fighters.
What are Kameo Fighters?
Kameo Fighters are, in essence, assist characters who may not be fully playable, but who players can make use of to achieve higher combos and disrupt the enemy’s offense. If your favorite fighter isn’t playable in Mortal Kombat 1, they might be included as a Kameo Fighter. And sure, it might not be the most satisfying alternative to directly controlling them, but it’s better than nothing, right? It’s also worth noting that some main fighters can also be Kameo Fighters, so if you see your fave on the list, don’t assume they won’t be included in the main roster.
We have a full list of all of the known Kameo Fighters below, as well as our full roster list, located here!
