Super Mario Bros. Wonder has reinvigorated the 2D Mario series with new features, ideas, and gameplay elements. In the first level, Welcome to the Flower Kingdom, you get an introduction to some of those new features, notably Elephant Mario.
In most Super Mario Bros. Wonder levels, there are secrets hidden throughout, like three big Flower Coins to find, worth 10 flowers each, and a Wonder Seed. We’ve covered where to find all four secrets in Welcome to the Flower Kingdom below.
Welcome to the Flower Kingdom – 10-Flower Coin 1
The first 10-Flower Coin in Welcome to the Flower Kingdom serves as an introduction to the wonder that is Elephant Mario. The ? block above the coin contains the Elephant Mario power-up. Grab that first. Then, press “Y” as Elephant Mario to destroy all of the blocks in your path, opening up the way to the first big coin.
Welcome to the Flower Kingdom – 10-Flower Coin 2
The second 10-Flower Coin can’t be missed along the level path, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to get. You need to get on top of the tree but to make it that high, you’ll need to head up the incline. At the top, turn around and hold “Y” to sprint back, then jump from around where Elephant Mario is standing in the screenshot above to reach the tree.
Welcome to the Flower Kingdom – 10-Flower Coin 3
As you continue through the opening level, you’ll be introduced to the Wonder Flower, pictured above. These appear in many levels but are usually more difficult to find than here. When you jump into the Wonder Flower, it will warp you to another location that differs from the rest of the level.
In Welcome to the Flower Kingdom, the Wonder Flower section features the classic Mario green pipes as caterpillars that slide through the level. The third 10-Flower Coin is along this path, pictured above, but you’ll also want to get as many regular Flower Coins as you can. The trick is the jump from the peak of the green pipe’s back to reach them, including the 10-Flower Coin.
Welcome to the Flower Kingdom – Wonder Seed Location
At the end of the Wonder Flower section, you’ll find a Wonder Seed, pictured above, floating in the air. There are no tricks here. Just jump up to get the first of the two Wonder Seeds available in the first level.
Don’t worry about searching for the second Wonder Seed. You get that one simply for getting to the flag at the end of Welcome to the Flower Kingdom. If you’ve obtained all of the secrets listed above, you’ll be able to see a checkmark over the level in the course select screen. These appear on every course once you’ve completed them 100%.
