Alliance vs. Na’Vi in an extraordinary game five of a best of five
The International 3 concluded last night after a tense fifth game in a best-of-five set between Na’Vi and Alliance. Were you among the hundreds of thousands of people who watched the Grand Championship unfold? This is it — the final, ridiculous match that awarded one team $1.4 million in prize money thanks in part to the Dota 2 community.
If you couldn’t tell, I’m purposefully dancing around who the victor was, though many of you have undoubtedly heard by now. To those lucky few who haven’t been spoiled and are about to watch, you’re much better at pulling off blackouts than I’ll ever be. Even as someone who doesn’t play Dota 2, this was a thrilling event. How could it not be with such energy in the room?
The International makes me want to learn, similar to how EVO rekindles my interest in fighting games each and every year. Not that I’d ever get to compete on that level, but the passion, the excitement, the sheer spectacle found in these events brings out my inquisitive nature. What if?
