We’ve been giving Ubisoft’s recently revealed sandbox, cyber-punk game Watch Dogs a lot of attention this week for good reason: We want it and we want it NOW! Well, sometime in 2013 will have to suffice, according to the game’s Twitter account.

This tweet, along with some others, has since been deleted. This doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in the possibility of a 2013 release, but maybe Ubisoft are just wary of making promises at this point.

Though there are still no details of whether the game will come to next-gen consoles, we may be able to play a likely visually stunted version on consoles next year. Of course, us superior PC gamers will be able to play the game in all its awesomeness. After all, it was speculated that the E3 demo ran on PC hardware.

Personally, I’m kind of shocked by this news. A designer on the game told us, at E3, that the game had just begun development. I assumed this would be one of those games that gets delayed again and again, until it arrives part-way into the next console cycle. Maybe it will be that, but hopefully not.

Until we have a firm release date, I’ll be watching this one closely … like … a dog … that watches. For now, let’s all re-watch Johnny Mnemonic, because that’s always a good idea!
