During TennoCon 2024, developer Digital Extremes revealed the 90s-inspired “Party of Yor Lifetime” single from fictional, zombified boyband On-Lyne. The song appears in the upcoming major expansion, Warframe: 1999, but it might be more than just a catchy tune.
Warframe fans on the game’s subreddit have been dissecting some of the lyrics from this song, and they believe they’ve found more than a few anagrams. While some of these anagrams seem a little stretched, such as “the neon” containing the word Tenno, which is what the player character is, others are downright unbelievable. User Raveturned pointed out that, “We come alive moving under the neon glow” rearranged becomes “Welcome Tenno, we love our hivemind gang.” Now dozens of us are invested in this, and many other links have been found.
Hints hidden in lyrics and walls
The in-game band, On-Lyne, has become a zombified Infested version of itself. The Infested operates as a hivemind in Warframe, but even if this only refers to On-Lyne, it hints that the group works as a single unit, even though we might need to face off against them altogether.
User Dragonmk found another interesting anagram in the lyrics. “The beat is strong, we can feel it in the floor.” “Note If we feign shot Albrecht Entrati lose.” Entrati is the character players are hunting down in this expansion, he’s actually a central character in Warframe‘s lore. This anagram holds a lot of weight, but there’s even more going on here that links back to TennoCon 2024.
In an in-game space themed around Warframe: 1999, the TennoCon 2024 Relay, user OnegenericWhiteBoy spotted something that could be crucial to the expansion’s lore. “I’ve been looking into something similar, but not the song. The curfew notice in Höllvania central mall relay has Major Neci Rusalka name on it, however, it is written a bit different and also in phonetic language, but there it has Saryn backwards in the middle.”
So why is this important? First, Major Neci Rusalka is the leader of the enemy faction in Warframe: 1999, the Scaldra. These guys aren’t Infested, but they are some sort of poisonous tech mutation that appears to be trying to contain the Infested on this version of Earth. Second, Saryn is the name of a Warframe who is said to have been created specifically to battle the Infested.
While we don’t have confirmation of what Rusalka and the Scaldra are doing, they’re very clearly trying to contain the Infested. Earth is wrapped up in biohazard covers as far as the eye can see, and each soldier in this faction is wearing something similar.
Given that Saryn is a Waframe built to battle the Infested using her own poison, which is what Rusalka and the Scaldra appear to be doing, and that Saryn Prime was given away as a Twitch Drop during TennoCon 2024, fans believe Rusalka could be the base for Saryn, and that will somehow play into the expansion’s story.
I think this theory is pretty close to the truth because this time period shows us six Protoframes, early versions of Warframes. Rusalka could just be the Protoframe for Saryn without us realizing it. Digital Extremes is fantastic at hiding information right in front of players without it being found until it wants them to know it, and I can’t wait to look back at these theories when we get to play Warframe: 1999 this winter.
