Ultrakill: Full Arsenal update completes the game’s arsenal at last

Paint. The World. RED.

As one of the most highly acclaimed retro/boomer shooters on the market right now, Ultrakill has proven time and again that it’s not going to stop one-upping itself until it wraps up its Early Access stint, at the very least. The Full Arsenal update doubles down on this notion.

The title “Full Arsenal” plainly tells us what this update is all about: the weapons. Following the previous major content update, Violent Night, the developer Hakita is now adding even more content to Ultrakill‘s rendition of the seventh layer of hell. The new stage, 7-S, is bolstered further with new Rocket Launcher, Nailgun, and Shotgun variants, as well as the ominous-sounding Brutal difficulty mode. In other words, if you need a whole new excuse to jump back into Ultrakill, now you have it.

Ultrakill: Full Arsenal introduces a variety of new weapons, variants, levels, and more

Ultrakill‘s new Full Arsenal update essentially rounds off the game’s planned-out roster of weapons with the following armaments:

  • “Firestarter” Rocket Launcher variation (Red)
  • “JumpStart Nailgun variation (Red)
  • “Sawed-on” Shotgun variation (Red)

This means that all of the game’s weapons are now in, with no more being planned for release before Ultrakill comes out of Early Access at least. Granted, given how important Ultrakill‘s balance is to its combat feeling just right, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Hakita doesn’t have any other weapons planned for the game at all.

Aside from the new Brutal difficulty mode, which the community is already eagerly testing, the Full Arsenal update also comes with a whole slew of improvements and changes. The highlights include:

  • A rework of the blood-splatter collision system for improved environmental collision accuracy
  • Options menu rework
  • Increased style bonus for non-lethal explosions
  • Idols give style points upon being destroyed
  • Punching a dying Mindflayer into a Gutterman breaks the latter’s shield
  • Earthmover now has an Idol spawn timer
  • Size 2 fish are now catchable
  • 7 all-new style bonuses are now available

And that is, of course, just a short list of over 100 total changes, improvements, and fixes included as part of the Full Arsenal update. This substantial patch nudges Ultrakill one important bunny-hop closer to its 1.0 release. Hakita is yet to announce an official release window for the game at this time, mind, and while there’s bound to be a long road ahead for Ultrakill yet, the good news is that there’s already an entire wealth of content available, with plenty more yet to come.
