Boooooo!

Resident Evil 5 has overtaken Street Fighter II as Capcom’s best-selling game of all time, CVG reports, having sold 6.5 million copies. Resident Evil 5, you’ll remember, is a really dumb game that aped Resident Evil 4 wholesale while destroying everything that made Resident Evil 4 great. It even managed to break some fundamental gameplay systems, like the inventory.

Of course, a lot of people loved it because, let’s face it, you could be playing Aliens: Colonial Marines with your mates and still have a giggle. Co-op is a great tool for masking creative bankruptcy.

Capcom’s total sales are up 17 percent this year and net income is up 20 percent. Also, Resident Evil: Revelations and Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies reportedly “basically achieved projected sales.”
