Trombone Champ, the infamous trombone-based rhythm game, will be available via Nintendo Switch “later today,” it was announced at today’s Nintendo Direct. Yes — that’s correct, the rhythm game that made its rounds in the meme space not long ago with poorly tuned renditions of The Blue Danube Waltz or Eine Kleine Nachtmusik is back, arguably on the platform it was always meant to be on.
According to the new trailer, the Switch version has support for gyro controls, allowing players to shift the pitch of their trombone up or down with the flick of their wrist. This can also be accomplished using the IR motion camera on the right JoyCon. In that mode, it would appear moving your hand closer to the sensor raises the pitch, while moving it further away lowers it.
In addition, this version of Trombone Champ supports local, four-player multiplayer, which … well, let’s just say that sounds like a very interesting experience and leave it at that.
