Trackmania is coming to console and cloud platforms in 2023

The Cloud, too

A Trackmania console release is slated for “early 2023,” according to an announcement made in an Ubisoft Forward stream today.

The window given right now is “early 2023,” and PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Stadia, and Luna were specifically mentioned in the reveal (as were “cloud platforms”). Cross-play and cross-progression are confirmed ahead of time too, which is a nice surprise that doesn’t require us to dig into a hidden FAQ to figure out if that’s actually planned or not.

In case you forgot, Trackmania is the shortened title for the 2020 rendition of the series, which launched as a free-to-play game. As of today, a yearly “club level” subscription costs $29.99, which has still earned the ire of many prospective players. As Ubisoft puts it, you can: “Enhance your experience with Standard Access and unleash your creativity. Play solo or multiplayer on seasonal campaigns and keep track of your progression with medal collection, trophies, and regional and worldwide rankings.”

The combination of only being available on PC and the subscription model has squarely put Trackmania 2020 in the “maybe” column since launch. At this point, quickly being able to boot it up on a console could sway me to give it another shot.
