Tip: Join a clan in Destiny 2, even if you mostly play alone

I’ve seen many folks go clan-less in Destiny 1, and that was perfectly fine. Bungie didn’t really have any incentives to join one, and the system itself wasn’t even in-game — but rather, relegated to the unwieldy Bungie.net website. The site is still pretty much the same, but the entire clan system has been overhauled in the sequel.

If you aren’t already in a clan yet, join one, even if it’s a stopgap one for now.

Put simply, clans in Destiny 2 give you gear. Not only do you get four types of engrams weekly just by existing in a clan that reaches very easy milestones (Nightfalls, trials, raid, crucible), but you can also nab one powerful engram per character by contributing to your clan XP pool. Oh, and once you level-up as a clan you’ll start getting even more gameplay bonuses.

This whole system went live a few days after the initial launch, but I’m still seeing people ask what the big deal is about clans, not understanding that they can get an extra set of powerful gear per week, per character. Even if you’re a shy person who has trouble meeting others, the mere act of getting more gear is enough reason to hop onto the clan train.
