THQ’s Danny Bilson has brought some bad news for those hoping to see more of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. According to the core games boss, there might be no room at the inn for Relic’s action series, since all eyes on the Dark Millennium MMO.
“It’s a really good game, it’s doing pretty well. In this world, honestly, you have to do exceptionally well to make any money, because the games are so expensive,” said Bilson. “We’ve already announced the Imperium in the MMO as a class you can play and if you combine that it’s very active, as opposed to the more turn-based stuff. I’m not sure there’s room for Space Marine.”
“We are heavily invested in the 40K universe, so there’s more stuff coming in the 40K universe, absolutely. We extended the deal for quite a while.”
And this is why games shouldn’t rush their endings and jam in awkward sequel hooks. Space Marine was a great game, but its ending was a disappointment and seemed to exist solely to promise new chapters. If it doesn’t get a sequel, the game’s whole story is bullshit. Developers, please make sure to finish your stories in future, because stuff like this happens quite a bit.
