Those ‘leaked’ Street Fighter IV pictures and information are true!

OH SNAP! Some very interesting developments have occurred since I posted those “leaked” Street Fighter IV pictures and information yesterday. Kotaku found out that Ziff-Davis has gone after the Brazilian blog site, Blogeek, for posting the pictures and information. Visiting Blogeek now, the site has been taken down and Doug left up a message showing how terrified he is:

IT WAS NOT OUR INTENTION TO MESS WITH ANYONE. LIKE EVERY NEWS SITE AND BLOG, WE JUST WANTED TO PASS INFORMATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE INTEREST FOR ANY SUBJECT.
JUST TO CLARIFY, WE DIDN’T HAVE ANY NDA, AND FAR LESS WE WOULD HACK ANYTHING FROM ZIFF DAVIS. A SOURCE CAME TO US AND PASSED SOME INFOS AND THE TWO PICTURES, AND WE PUBLISHED THEM.
ALTHOUGH WE STILL DON’T THINK WE SHOULD, WE REALLY WANT TO APOLOGIZE TO ANYONE WHO GOT HURT WITH THE INCIDENT.
ZIFF DAVIS WAS THREATENING US, AND WE ARE REALLY AFRAID, OF COURSE. THAT’S ALL.

Before you go feeling bad for the “little guy” because “the man” is trying to bring him down, you should hear the other side of the story.

Turns out that Doug is a freelancer for EGM Brazil. Dan Hsu told Kotaku that they found proof that Doug stole the information from Ziff by abusing his working relationship with the company. Doug has also admitted to the theft as well. ZD is also angry at Kotaku for defending Blogeek and not contacting anyone at Ziff for the full story on this situation.

So lets recap: Blogeek stole an exclusive, Ziff brought the hammer down, Kotaku tried to stick up Blogeek, Ziff got angry at Kotaku for defending Blogeek and not searching for the whole truth, and the pictures and information are all over the place now including here at Destructoid

It all boils down to Doug and his jackassery for trying to get some easy hits by stealing content away from EGM which will be all over the place in a week anyway.
