It’s dangerous to go alone
Ahoy ye scurvy dogs! Have I got a special treat for you this week. To commemorate this weekend’s retail launch of the phenomenal The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, I bring to you an exclusive Tetra and Medli cosplay shot by Destructoid.
Tetra, portrayed by the talented cosplayer Amanda K and maker of both costumes in this shoot, is perhaps my favorite incarnation of a certain iconic Zelda character (I know Wind Waker is over a decade old, but who likes spoilers?). She’s a tough and fearsome pirate, who strangely enough is not too fond of Link during the outset of the game.
Medli, by cosplayer Gwenivere Elaine, fits the bill perfectly (that one is for you Stephen). An unsung heroine of The Wind Waker, the apprentice attendant of Valoo comes in quite handy in aiding Link through a few challenging dungeons thanks in part to her musical talents and limited, but adequate enough for the job wings.
I don’t know about you, but The Wind Waker is easily my favorite Zelda game post A Link to the Past. A post apocalyptic nautical adventure that in many ways was way ahead of its time in 2002, but was held back with some overly tedious fetch quests and a sailing system — while fantastically immersive — that made the endgame a true test of fortitude.
All that aside, I’m truly loving the new Swift Sail and can’t help but be swept away by how beautiful the game looks in HD. Really this is a title you have to see in person to believe. No picture or YouTube video can do the game the justice it deserves in the visual department. And kudos to Nintendo for updating more than just the visuals.
If you’ve picked up The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD or better yet the super uber The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD Wii U Limited Edition bundle let us know what you think in the comments below.
And as always, if you have any spectacular cosplays you’d like to show off here make sure to send them in to tips@destructoid.com.
Until next time!
