There’s something about roguelike puzzler Road Not Taken

Spry Fox’s latest looks wonderful

Triple Town developer Spry Fox’s new game is indeed inspired by the Robert Frost poem “The Road Not Taken.” Aren’t you glad we got that out of the way early? Described as a puzzle game blended with roguelike elements, Road Not Taken is understandably a bit coy at the moment.

The teaser trailer for this PC (and eventual mobile) title is quite lovely, even if it does more teasing than trailering. That said, we at least got a hint of gameplay here. Road Not Taken has artist Brent “Meowza” Kobayashi (Glitch) and designer Daniel Cook (Realm of the Mad God) on board.

I’m intrigued, more by the art style than anything else. I’ll cop to the fact that, yes, the term “roguelike” used as a talking point for a new game will get me to take a look. I’m too damn easy! But now that they have my attention, they’ll need to work hard to keep it.
