There may not be a Doctor Who game after all

In an odd bit of news, good old BlindsideDork sent us a tip from Nintencast, wherein they report that they contacted the BBC regarding the prospective Doctor Who licensed game mentioned first on David Tennant’s official site and then reported by us earlier this week. Evidently, the BBC had this to say:

“We’ve now checked and there isn’t a console game planned. There’s just a little self-contained  game/toy thing coming – a bit like Tetris.”

One would expect the news to end there, but — oddly — Nintencast deleted the post a few hours ago, and the original content can only be found via Google cache. Whether the BBC told them to exterminate the newspost or whether they simply thought their info was problematic, I don’t really know.

But I do know that if this news is true, I’ve got some hella mixed feelings. On the one hand, I love Doctor Who. On the other hand, I love Doctor Who. A videogame featuring a time-travelling David Tennant has the potential to be pretty damned incredible (especially if the developers would listen to me), but it’d also be tremendously easy to screw up. Personally, I’ll just play Attack of the Graske over and over, listening to David Tennant’s soothing voice as he lulls me into a state of permanent sci-fi bliss. Then I’ll pray for Colin Teague to get hit by a bus.
