If you’re as excited as I am about the mere possibility that Beyond Good & Evil 2 will ever see the light of day, here’s some free advice: Find yourself a nice comfortable chair and relax because we’re going to be here for a while.
Michel Ancel, the lead designer on the project rumored last month to have left Ubisoft and abandoned the game, appeared at the Montpellier in Game conference to talk about his projects. A translation of the presentation by NeoGAF revealed some details about what the team is attempting to do with Beyond Good & Evil 2, including interactive story elements and multiple endings.
Ancel also made it a point to mention that the development team on the game is being kept small and that, as a result, production would take a while. How long is a while, Michel? How long?!
I don’t know which would be worse, being told that the game will be out within five years or being left to wonder the way we are now. I’d like to think that a number of any kind would bring me comfort but, the longer it is, the more opportunity there is for things to go terribly wrong and then I’d just obsess over the myriad of ways that could happen. Hardly seems like an improvement to me.
