And more EA restructuring

Mega-publisher Electronic Arts issued “an organizational update” yesterday announcing the formation of EA Worldwide Studios, a “central studios organization led by Patrick Söderlund,” who was the head of EA Studios for the past three years (itself an organizational change up).

EA Mobile and Maxis head Samantha Ryan is still running those joints, but she, “will also take on leadership of BioWare, where her love for RPGs and experience with open-world adventure games is an outstanding fit to work with Aaryn Flynn and his great team.” She’ll now report to Söderlund.

The Frostbite Engine team has also been rearranged, now working under the Technology operation led by chief technology officer Ken Moss.

Most importantly, the restructuring doesn’t appear to have led to any lay-offs. However, “EA Worldwide Studios will bring together our top creative talent in all of our great studios to work on EA’s powerful brand portfolio and new IP” also screams homogeneity — more than already exists at EA.
