The Sims 4’s Lovestruck expansion pack is officially launching on July 25, with a free base game update available two days prior. Starting on July 23, you can access free content, including long-awaited Create-a-Sim changes, new pool designs, and romance changes tying the game and expansion together.
The Sims 4 July 23 update patch notes and changes
As detailed in the official announcement post for The Sims 4’s July 23 update, the core features added in this patch include the introduction of Romantic Boundaries, hiding Sims in your relationships panel, and the Apply All feature for outfits. You’ll also find specific customization additions, including the introduction of eyelashes, new hairstyles, and more nail polish styles.
Create-a-Sim changes
The first notable change in the list is Romantic Boundaries, a feature that builds upon pre-existing jealousy mechanics. In the Create-a-Sim menu, you can specify whether your Sim becomes jealous from psychical and non-psychical romantic contact and WooHooing, allowing you to give your characters some romantic freedom if you wish.
Another Create-a-Sim feature introduced in this free update is the Apply All button, allowing you to pick the same hair, clothes, makeup, and other customization features for different outfits. In other words, if you spent 20 minutes creating an everyday outfit, you can apply it to other outfit types like hot and cold weather, party, or even sleepwear.
Alongside these, The Sims 4’s July 23 update also includes the following new additions:
- Eyelash customization options
- Updated hairstyles, including new colors in collaboration with Dark and Lovely
- New nail styles and color palettes, including ones for French tips and coffin nails
Build Mode changes
The main build mode change added in The Sims 4’s July 23 update is the introduction of curved pools. Much like curved walls, you can use these to create circular pools rather than a bunch of boxes, allowing you some more creative freedom with your outdoor decorating.
Live Mode changes
The Sims 4’s July 23 update adds several new features to live mode, with the main highlights listed below:
- A new Relationship conversation tab
- Safe Music game option for Streamers
- Neighborhood story changes for Friendship and Romance changes
- Revamps to the conversation panel to see their mood, relationship levels, and sentiment
Bug fixes
Lastly, as with every major base game update for The Sims 4, the July 23 patch introduces dozens of bug fixes. Alongside base game fixes for toddler traits, romance-related features, and event planning, the update also fixes several issues within expansions. Some of the expansions experiencing bug fixes include Get to Work, Get Together, Cats and Dogs, and Seasons.
