In each expansion of Final Fantasy XIV, there are a lot of FATEs to complete, but there are always two that are far more difficult than others and require some prep work. One of the new Dawntrail Special FATEs is called The Serpentlord Seethes.
The Serpentlord Seethes is a large-scale level 100 FATE designed to be incredibly difficult, and you’ll need a large number of people in order to successfully complete it, especially this early into the latest expansion.
How to spawn The Serpentlord Seethes in Final Fantasy XIV
It’s worth noting that The Serpentlord Seethes will not spawn if it has been completed within a 24-hour window and is still on cooldown. The best way to know whether the FATE is on cooldown is by checking Faloop!, which is a community made resource to track both FATEs and Hunt Marks.
There is also no guarantee that completing the FATEs mentioned below will force The Serpentlord Seethes to spawn. This Special FATE only has a small chance of spawning, even when it isn’t on cooldown. So be patient, and on the plus side, this is a good chance to work on your Shaaloani Shared FATEs.
Before you can take on Ttokrrone in The Serpentlord Seethes, you’ll need to fulfil the spawn requirements. There are four pre-requisite FATEs which must be completed in a certain order, all of which take place in Shaaloani.
# | FATE name | Location | Level | FATE type |
1 | The Serpentlord Stirs | (X:23.5, Y:32.5) | 95 | Slay enemies |
2 | The Serpentlord Speaks | (X:29.0, Y:17.8) | 96 | Slay enemies |
3 | The Serpentlord Sires | (X:20.9, Y:8.5) | 96 | Gather |
4 | The Serpentlord Suffers | (X:20.9, Y:8.5) | 96 | Defend |
The first three of these FATEs spawn within a couple of minutes of completing the previously required FATE. The Serpentlord Suffers will begin immediately after completion of The Serpentlord Sires.
How to know if The Serpentlord Seethes has spawned
Thankfully, Special FATEs from Stormblood onwards will now show up on the map as all other FATEs do, so you’ll know if The Serpentlord Seethes has spawned because a FATE marker will show up on the map.
Ttokrrone spawns in the far north of the Shaaloani map, getting an arena all to itself at (X:22.5, Y:5.1). You’ll need to be able to fly (or have a nice friend willing to chauffeur you) in order to reach the spot where Ttokrrone spawns. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to gather up all of the Aether Currents in Shaaloani and unlock the ability to fly.
What drops from The Serpentlord Seethes
If you’ve seen anyone fly or run past you on the back of a surprisingly large Capybara, they got it through completing The Serpentlord Seethes.
Defeating Ttokrrone will reward you with between two and six Ttokrrone Scales, depending on how much you contributed towards the successful completion of the FATE. These can be exchanged with Uah’shepya in Solution Nine (X:8.6, Y:13.5) for the Mehwapyarra Whistle. You’ll need to complete The Serpentlord Seethes at least twice.
