If you’ve didn’t already own The Longest Journey, or didn’t know it was on sale together with its sequel-that-must-not-be-named during the Steam Summer sale, then today you absolutely have no excuse whatsoever for not grabbing it. As Good Old Games’ Hidden Gem of the day, it is now 60% off at $3.99 until 5:59 a.m. EDT tomorrow.
Not only is it among the best point & click adventures ever made, but it’s one of my favorite games period. The more adult theme, the strong and witty female protagonist, the epic adventure from a time when the word “epic” still had meaning, the mix of magic and science fiction, and the best crow sidekick in gaming history; there are just too many reasons why The Longest Journey has the status it has to list them all in here.
At four bucks it’s a steal, if only so you can ditch those four CDs and have it at the ready whenever you feel like taking on April Ryan’s adventure once more. Today would be a good day to start it up again, don’t you think?
