Fans eagerly awaiting any and all news as it pertains to the TV adaptation of The Last of Us have received a small morsel of hope this week, with HBO’s own Casey Bloys suggesting that the live-action exploits of Joel and Ellie should be hitting small screens nationwide as soon as early 2023.

Bloys comments came during a long-form interview with The Hollywood Reporter, where the Chief Content Officer lived up to his reputation for dropping major news in small, off-the-cuff remarks. While it was already a given that The Last of Us would be arriving at some point next year, Bloys’ comment brings its premiere date closer still, which will come as something of a relief for impatient fans, (see: all fans of everything).

Speaking of dates, Naughty Dog itself has noted that upcoming remake The Last of Us Part I has now officially gone gold, with code ready to be pressed to discs and sent whizzing out over the airways — affording the community yet another opportunity to experience the critically acclaimed stealth adventure all over again. It’s been quite a speedy turnaround from official reveal to shelf date and, despite being the third rerelease in less than a decade, it’s sure to be a guaranteed smash seller.

The Last of Us is scheduled to premiere on HBO in 2023. The Last of Us Part I will launch on PS5 September 2. A PC edition is also in the works for a later date.
