The Boys Season 4 has soared in terms of viewership on Prime Video, with a 21% viewership increase as compared to Season 3, per Amazon (via TheWrap). Amazon has also stated that The Boys Season 4 is now the second most-viewed Prime Video season within four days of its premiere, only behind Reacher Season 2.
Moreover, The Boys Season 4 is currently the top show on Prime Video in 160 countries, with 60% of the audience from regions outside the US. It has also been revealed that Brazil, UK, and India are the regions where The Boys is performing really well.
Interestingly, the viewership record has arrived after the vitriol this season has received so far on Rotten Tomatoes. The Boys Season 4 has the lowest audience score of its season so far on the platform, as highlighted by Screen Rant. This season has a 50% audience score with an aggregate 2.9 rating out of 5, at the time of writing. However, The Boys Season 4 carries a solid 95% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
While there are several negative reviews from users who feel that the show is not living up to its standards, other negative reviews are review-bombs that stem from allegations that the show has gone “woke”.
Eric Kripke, the creator of the show, responded to this, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, by saying: “Go watch something else”. There are now negative reviews on Rotten Tomatoes that actually refer to Kripke’s comments as well, highlighting that the statement did not sit well with some fans.
One of the users who gave The Boys Season 4 half-a-star in their review wrote, “The creator of the show wanted people to go watch something else, I will obey.”
Regardless of the review-bombing, the viewership records tell a different story. The Boys is officially set to receive another season which will be the final chapter of this dark take on the superhero genre.
