Super Evil Megacorp has announced that their roguelite turtle game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate, is coming to Switch on July 17. It was previously available for iOS via Apple Arcade and is now coming to a more thumb-friendly platform.
I don’t like touching my phone, so I don’t have any experience with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate. It’s a top-down fighting game that looks pretty hack and slashy. There are dashes that probably have invincibility frames. It looks very Hades-like, but there’s co-op. There has to be co-op. It would be an affront to good taste if a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game didn’t have co-op. We’re not on the NES and Game Boy anymore.
Splintered Fate is said to feature “an all-new story written by legendary comic book author Tom Waltz and Kevin Michael Johnson.” The roguelite angle seems strange to me because I’m pretty sure the turtles are married to their weapons, but apparently, there is a “diverse build system” that allows you to “create the elemental-infused Teenage Turtle of their dreams.”
I’ve never dreamed of infusing a Teenage Turtle with elements, but I get what they’re saying.
It also touts that it has received “over 22,000 5/5 radical player reviews,” which doesn’t mean much to me. Especially since the app store on my phone only says 1K ratings. Still, I looked up reviews and they’re pretty positive, if maybe not enthusiastic. Still, if you’re into ‘90s-locked turtle ‘tude, it may be worth checking out.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate launches on Switch July 17 for $29.99.
