I love Frogger, at least in theory. The original game offered a great mix of maze-game maneuvering and environmental hazards that managed to capture many hours of my life as a kid. Lately though, the series has come off as a tad uninspired. Thankfully, Tak Fujii is helming the upcoming title Frogger 3D, and if there is one thing this guy doesn’t lack, it’s inspiration.

Like Pac-Man Championship Edition DX did for that series, Frogger 3D takes the base elements of its source material and extrapolates on them to the greatest degree possible. You’re still just a frog, trying to get from point A to point b, but now there are countless different ways to get there. There are also tons of different ways you can die in the process, something that Fujii-san seems to enjoy quite a bit. He’s particularly focused on death by sushi.

Then there’s the game’s endless mode, something that I know I’ll be sucked into for a long time. Fujii-san really sold me on the game, but how about you? Are you willing to put Frogger‘s recent uninspired titles behind you and trust in the power of Tak Fujii?
