Citizen Sleeper, the next project from Jump Over The Age, has a release date. The sci-fi narrative RPG will launch for PC, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch on May 5.

The sci-fi adventure will be coming to Game Pass on day one, alongside its Steam and Switch releases. According to the Nintendo eShop, it’s looking to be $19.99.

Citizen Sleeper is the latest from In Other Waters developer Jump Over The Age. In it, the player takes on the role of a sleeper; a digitized human consciousness on board an artificial body. On the run from the corporation, you wash up on Erlin’s Eye—a station at the edge of the system for wayward souls.

From there, it’s a daily game of managing what you do with your time. Every morning you roll die and can put them into different “slots” to perform actions, which can have good, bad, or neutral outcomes.

These build into different narrative arcs, as you get to know fellow station inhabitants and chase certain leads. Maybe you get on well with the local bartender and start working as a bouncer for her. Or maybe you spend a lot of time in the shipyard, paying back the kindhearted scrapper who saved you.

Time management meets tabletop

I got to preview Citizen Sleeper last year and chat with developer Gareth Damian Martin about their inspirations. It’s not much hyperbole to say this is one of my most anticipated games of the year. The way Citizen Sleeper blended time management, tabletop influences, and gorgeous visuals together has stuck with me.

If you’re someone who enjoys interesting narrative role-playing experiences, like Disco Elysium or more recently Norco, then Citizen Sleeper should be on your radar. And with it coming to Game Pass, there’s plenty of reason to give it a shot.

Citizen Sleeper hits Xbox, PC, and Switch on May 5.
