The Kickstarter campaign raised over $100k in 24 hours
File this under “Whoa, that didn’t take long”: a fully fledged version of the great browser game SUPERHOT has met its Kickstarter goal in just over 24 hours after launch.
That’s a really quick result for a game that was initially developed for the 7 Day First-Person Shooter game jam. If you don’t already know, SUPERHOT is an FPS/puzzle game where time only moves on when your character moves. It makes for a refreshing take on the FPS genre where you really have to think about your movements as much as where you’re aiming.
I’ve said before that having some gameplay that people can try themselves really helps to sell Kickstarter projects. The fact that SUPERHOT was available as a browser game for months now has meant anyone can have a go and get a good grasp on the core mechanics. The fully funded title is looking to have a bigger variety of environments and game modes and I’m really looking forward to seeing how far that core gameplay mechanic can go.
