Still waiting on that gameplay footage
DC FanDome is a celebration of all things DC, where some of the biggest stars in the world stand in front of a green screen as they talk about the things that are most important to comic book fans. Like, the color of The Flash’s boots, I guess. It’s also the place to see trailers and footage for upcoming movies, television shows, and games, such as Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. We got our first glimpse at the upcoming maybe-a-games-as-a-service title at last year’s FanDome and this year, the developers dropped a new trailer for it with just as much gameplay footage as we saw in the last one.
That is to say, absolutely none. But what is here is pointing at a huge adventure to kill the heroes we grew up idolizing, something that seems really seems on point for 2021.

Even with the lack of gameplay footage in the Suicide Squad DC FanDome trailer above, I still have complete faith in the project. After all, Rocksteady is working on it and its library of titles is not something to be ignored. Given this year’s lackluster reception of The Suicide Squad, it might be easy to start doomsaying about its potential. But I think the gaming audience is a better target for this band of anti-heroes than a pandemic-weary movie audience.
As we learned last year, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will feature Harley Quinn, King Shark, Captain Boomerang, and Deadshot on a mission to kill the Justice League. In the story trailer above, we get our first look at some of the heroes we’ll be taking down, including The Flash and John Stewart’s Green Lantern. You’ll be able to team up with three other players to make your way through the game, but you can also go through it solo with AI companions. The entire story will be playable in online co-op.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will launch in 2022 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
