I remember the days when my wallet was mostly safe, with a Steam Sale only occurring a few times per year. Now it feels like there’s at least a sale per month. I guess any opportunity to save money is a good thing, but it’s getting hard not to add more games to my ever-growing unplayed Steam library.
Today begins the Steam SHMUP Fest, a festival that specifically focuses on the shoot ’em up genre. As part of the fest, some landmark titles in the genre are heavily discounted as well as a few newly released titles. Also, several games in the genre have dropped playable demos as part of the festival. For those interested in free digital stuff, Steam users can claim a free reward each day for logging in. I’m not sure if the rewards are static or random. I got a sticker. The event is live now and will end on October 2 at 1 p.m. ET.
