Stardew Valley patch 1.6.3 gives Krobus his own portrait

The best boy can now grace the walls with his presence

Not even 10 days since Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone blessed PC players with the huge and wildly popular Stardew Valley 1.6 update, he’s showing no signs of slowing down and patch 1.6.3 is now available for PC players, including an adorable addition for Krobus fans.

Portraits for spouses were added in the 1.6 update, allowing you to adorn your Farmhouse’s walls with portraits of your in-game beau(s), but Krobus was left out of this first batch. Well, now the shadow dwelling shadow person can now become a feature on your walls, but only if you’ve become good enough friends with him that he moves into the spare room.

As well as Krobus getting the recognition he deserves, the following updates have also been implemented with patch 1.6.3:

  • Clint’s store and Geode processing services are now available, even if he’s upgrading your Hoe (or any tool)
  • Mr. Raccoon now requests Bug Meat and Bat Wings more often
  • Harvesting Moss now grants one Foraging experience per Moss
  • Pre-1.6 save files can now gain the Infinite Power achievement
  • First year Spirit’s Eve Festival now has a Mine Cart shortcut
  • You now need to gather four Prismatic Shards to complete Mr. Qi’s “Four Precious Stones” quest, rather than simply donate them
  • Qi Gem reward for the JunimoKart Qi quest has doubled from 10 to 20
  • New cabins on starter layouts in Multiplayer
  • Starter cabins now appear in the intended order
  • Adult mossy green rain trees now boost the Moss growth rate of nearby trees
  • The clock and text now moves down if a Journal quest title is too wide
  • Pressing escape now takes you back on a shipping menu category page
  • Moss now grows slower on sunny summer days and regenerates more slowly
  • Meteorite Prismatic Shard chance has been reduced from 100% to 25%
  • You can now paint new cabins as long as they’ve reached third stage of upgrade
  • The Traveling Cart no longer sells Ancient Seeds
  • Waterfall and other ambient noise now fades out more smoothly
  • If you didn’t adopt the first pet, for whatever reason, you can now adopt pets by visiting Marnie from the beginning of year two
  • Berry bush state is more consistent overnight and when loading the game

There are also a few minor fixes to translation errors and bugs.

In other news, the developer has commented on when he’s going to start working on  Haunted Chocolatier again. Replying to a comment on Twitter, Barone stated that while he’s eager to get back to work on the more combat-heavy follow-up to Stardew Valley, he has to “see Stardew 1.6 settled, bug-free and out to all platforms first”.

With no confirmed date for when Stardew Valley 1.6 will arrive on other platforms, it might be a while before work on Haunted Chocolatier gets back underway, but I think Barone is to be commended for his commitment to Stardew Valley and however long it takes, Haunted Chocolatier will benefit from the developers attention to detail as much as Stardew Valley has.
