We’ve got more than a sneaking suspicion that a new Hitman title is about to be announced sometime soon. Talk of the game dates back to 2009, and late last year a “Hitman 5” showed up on a few resumes.

Now the game may officially have a name: Square Enix Europe has recently trademarked Hitman: Absolution. For reference, the words “Deus Ex: Human Revolution” were trademarked by Square a few months before that game’s name was officially unveiled.

So how close are we to seeing the new Hitman? With E3 just around the corner, I’d say pretty damned close. I’d expect an announcement even sooner, with more details to be revealed at the show. Hungry for more now? Check out what may be the first look at the game, uncovered by fans in a supposed Hitman ARG.
