With a new Splatoon on the horizon, Nintendo is confirming that new weapons won’t be shoving out the old. Splatoon 3 will have all basic weapons from previous games available to use in the upcoming Turf Wars.

The news comes via social media, where the Splatoon 3 devs have been posting a fair bit about the weaponry squid-kids can employ this time around. The feed shows off classics like the good ol’ Splattershot and Splattershot Jr., both of which are looking sleek and stylish for the new game.

That’s not all shown in the tweet, however. Some Splatoon fans are noting other changes hinted at in the above group shot for Splatoon 3.

Customization options also look to be getting some extras. A few of those inklings have different brow styles and eye colors. Splatoon has always featured an emphasis on fashion and style alongside the shooter combat, and Splatoon 3 looks to be no exception.

Summer squid wars

While the game’s looking good, it’s still going to be a while before the full launch. Previously teasing a summer 2022 date, Nintendo recently locked in a launch day of Sept. 9.

The date announcement also came alongside a new video of some Turf War action, which is looking interesting. As teased in previous trailers, squids look to be starting on platforms and launching onto the map.

A few different weapons were shown off too, ranging from long-range ink snipers to massive vacuums. The bow teased in the original trailer makes an appearance too.

Splatoon 3 will also have a single-player mode, centering around the “Return of the Mammalians” and some weird, fuzzy happenings. Salmon Run is also back on the menu, completing the Splatoon game mode trifecta. Even though it’s quite a few months away, seems like Splatoon 3 is shaping up pretty well.
