The above header was a message in my inbox this morning. We told you about eBay auction Akira Yamaoka Silent Hill Guitar (160565804078) a few days back. Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka put up for auction his beloved guitar, amp and effects box that he used to compose the music for Konami’s horror series for Play for Japan, a game industry charity auction for earthquake and tsunami relief in Japan.
As a huge fan I wanted that guitar more than anybody else. I threw my measly blogger salary at it repeatedly, but it kept bouncing off. The auction ended today after 43 bids. Yamaoka’s gear went for $4,450! While I’m happy that this large number went toward a great cause, I’m a bit jealous.
Play for Japan has now pulled in over $71,000 for Japan. They now have something else I really want: a rare Dreamcast employee jacket!
