Sonic Superstars release date, preorder bonus, special editions

The next entry in the Sonic the Hedgehog series spin dashes its way to physical and digital stores on October 17, 2023. You can grab it on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, or PC for $59.99.

The Digital Deluxe Edition costs $10 more at $69.99. It gives you the following:

  • Lego Fun Pack
  • Sonic Rabbit Skin
  • Mecha Sonic Skin for Battle Mode
  • Bonus Main Menu Wallpapers
  • Digital Artbook & Mini Original Soundtrack

There will be a Lego Eggman skin available as well for those who preorder the game.

All Sonic Superstars characters

At the time of writing, there are four confirmed characters. They are Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy. Each has unique abilities that differentiate them, such as Tails’ ability to fly or Sonic’s Drop Dash move. They’ll battle Fang and Dr. Eggman across the game’s distinct worlds.

Every zone we know so far

There will be a total of 12 zones in Sonic Superstars, and the good news is that they’re all original. We won’t be returning to Green Hill Zone again, just for nostalgia. We’ll update this article once we know the final four, but so far, we know the game includes:

  • Bridge Island Zone
  • Speed Jungle Zone
  • Sky Temple Zone
  • Pinball Carnival Zone
  • Lagoon City Zone
  • Sand Sanctuary Zone
  • Press Factory Zone
  • Golden Capital Zone

Is Sonic Superstars co-op? All modes included

You’ll be able to play Sonic Superstars in four-player offline co-op. There’s also an eight-player battle mode that can be played online and offline.

There will also be a way to customize your own characters in the online mode and add skins to your characters during the campaign. For example, if you get the Digital Deluxe Edition, you can use the Rabbit skin, which is actually a reference to early concept art for Sonic himself.

The multiplayer battle mode will be crossplay as well.

Is there in-game DLC?

According to the ESRB, Sonic Superstars will contain “In-Game Purchases”. We do know the Lego Fun Pack will be available separately for those who don’t buy the Digital Deluxe version of the game. Otherwise, we can’t say for sure what in-game DLC might be in Sonic Superstars.
